It all started when the old grocery store in Mulberry Grove went up for sale. We were sitting in our living room, and Brittany saw the posting and commented that it would be cool to have that building and turn it into something great. "What would you do with it?" I asked. She thought for a while and then replied, "How would you feel about turning it into a butcher shop"? She went on to explain that we'd been having a hard time getting a beef from our farm scheduled to be butchered and that the area needed more shops catering to local farmers to fill that need. The dream was born.
Brittany talked to her brother Andrew (the little brother referred to in our name) about the plan and asked if he had any interest. He'd been working as a butcher in another plant for the last 10 years and would provide the key experience to get us off the ground. Brittany's Dad, Terry, had also been in the industry for 30+ years and would be able to provide insight and advice for the operation. They both loved the idea, and the decision was made to move ahead.
Fast forward through plans, quotes, permits, classes, renovations, equipment purchases, meetings, and many late nights, and here we are beginning to realize that original dream. We work to provide our services to local farmers and consumers in the area, and strive to give the highest quality cuts and excellent customer service. We are a small-town business with a hometown feel, and we genuinely care for everyone who comes through our door. We hope to fill a need within our community and to revitalize a portion of our town for years to come.
So, if you have an animal that needs to be scheduled for butchering, if you just brought down that deer from the timber and are looking to have it processed, if you are hungry for that perfect steak or chop to throw on the grill for your family, give Little Brother's Butcher Shop a call. We'd be more than happy to provide our personalized service to you.
Thank you to everyone who has been involved with this project along the way. Without the support of our family, community, customers, and co-workers, we certainly wouldn't be here today.
Sincerely,
Matt & Brittany Dooly
